Melasma


Blotches of light to dark brown or black pigmentation on face. These patches are seen usually on upper lip, nose, cheeks, forehead.


Causes:
   
Most often during pregnancy or oral contraceptive use.
Sun Exposer.
Genetic Predisposition.
Hormonal disorders in females.
Post Traumatic, Post Burn.

Treatment:
   
Good High SPF sunscreen.
Topical treatment with hydroquinon.
Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Azelaic Acid, Hydroxy Acids and Retinoids.
Glycolic Peels, Salicylic Acid, Trichloracetic Acid peels, Latic Acid Peels etc…
Q – Switched Laser in case of Freckles and Lentigo.
